Atatürk University students who experienced the Van earthquake in 2011 and the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes in 2023 have developed a drone called ‘Depron’ to support search and rescue operations. The drone, equipped with heat sensors, will be used to detect survivors trapped under debris. Injured individuals rescued from the wreckage will be recorded and transported to hospitals. Hüseyin Ayğan (23), Beyza Konuker (21), and Şuhedanur Halat (22), who survived the earthquakes, along with their teammates İbrahim Hakkı Harmankaya (22), Talha Ağbaba (22), Serhat Akkoyunlu (22), Seval Olgaç (20), and Nuri Eray Bilgin (22) have formed the ‘Robotec’ team and developed the ‘Depron’ drone for rescue operations. The drone also features a sound system to call out for help and a lighting system for night operations. The team is seeking support to further develop their project.
